Reggiani chooses the materials used in manufacture very carefully, taking advantage of the latest technological advances to ensure deliver consistent and reliable performance throughout their long lives. Simplicity of design and ease of access for installation and maintenance are also key criteria.

For example the use of high-temperature, silicone-based plastics as main body components for selected luminaires has enabled an overall reduction in both the number of components and the number of screw-fixings required. This approach has also enabled luminaire designs to be simplified, with reduced production costs and environmental impact. Furthermore, these materials are recyclable at the end of their life.

Similarly, where they offer the best solution, aluminium castings are used to ensure long-term cost reduction in production, thereby reducing costs for customers, as well as maximum repeatability and ease of recycling at end of life.

In the manufacture of our innovative LED IOS optics, special acrylics sourced initially from the automotive industry have been utilised to ensure the optics remain clear throughout life without discolouration. Use of this material also minimises static electricity, thereby negating the effects of airborne dust on the performance and appearance of the luminaire.

The result of this attention to detail at every level of design ensures that Reggiani luminaires look as good at the end of their life as they did when they were first installed.
